Galentine’s Day Candles

While I was doing my New Years reset I discovered glassware that used to be so loved back when they were in matching sets, but after one too many martinis my cute wine & martini sets slowly dwindled into a mix & match situation. I knew I wanted to give my mix & match collection a second life and with Galentine’s day around the corner I decided to make all my girls candles. If your glassware is still in sets (teach us your ways) go thrifting for some fun vessels or teacups.

  • candle vessels

  • wicks with stickers

  • essential oils

  • melting pot (can use measuring cup)

  • mixing spoon

  • wick trimmer

  • sticks or clothespins to hold wick in place

Instructions

  1. Measure out your wax: fill the candle vessel with the wax pellets (this ensures you’re measuring out the perfect amount of wax for your vessel) then add to melting pot

  2. Melt the wax: heat a pot of water over medium heat on the stove and add the melting pot making a double boiler (heat the wax to 185°F)

  3. While the wax melts add your wick to the vessel. Use a wick sticker (or hot glue) to stick the metal bottom of the wick to the center of your vessel. Add a clothespin or sticks to hold your wick upright.

  4. Stir essential oil into the melted wax

  5. Remove the wax from heat & allow your wax mixture to cool to 125°F

  6. Pour the wax into your vessel. If the wick shifts around, fix it while the wax is still hot and very liquid.

  7. Wait for your candle to harden then trim the wick & your candle is ready to be gifted or displayed on your mantel!
